Michael M. Porter

Michael M. Porter is the founder and CEO of Federal Risk Solutions LLC, bringing over two decades of expertise in governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) within the banking and insurance sectors. A seasoned information security executive, Michael has consistently driven transformative initiatives across various high-profile organizations, enhancing cybersecurity, risk mitigation, and compliance management.

Throughout his career, Michael has held numerous executive leadership roles, overseeing all aspects of GRC functions, including third-party risk management and business information security. His strategic vision and leadership have led to the development and standardization of critical GRC processes, integration of GRC programs from acquisitions, and the creation of comprehensive governance frameworks that enhance policy enforcement and compliance.

Michael has managed extensive cybersecurity organizations responsible for governance, risk assessments, policy development, and regulatory coordination. His efforts in developing standardized cybersecurity program frameworks and executing cybersecurity maturity assessments have guided multi-year strategies and resource allocations, significantly improving the security posture of the organizations he has led.

Michael’s career is also distinguished by his 10 years of service in the United States Army, where he honed his leadership and information security skills, managing critical infrastructure and security operations. His military background has deeply influenced his disciplined approach to risk management and security.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Michael is committed to education and community service. He has been an adjunct instructor at Southern New Hampshire University since 2017, where he teaches business systems analysis and design. He also volunteers as a youth ice hockey coach, fostering the next generation of talent both on and off the ice.

Michael holds a Master of Science in Business Information Technology from DePaul University and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).

Michael lives in Dacula, Georgia, with his wife and their five children. His dedication to both his professional and personal life exemplifies his commitment to excellence and community.
